Level of Study

The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage students to enrol in an Engineering, Food Technology, or Nutritional Science degree at Massey University

Value and Tenure
The value of the scholarship is $3,000 for one year only.
Payments will be made in one instalment following the official withdrawal date in Semester One.

Typical Number on Offer
Up to 10 scholarships will be awarded

Applicants must be eligible, and intending, to enrol:
•for full time study (minimum of 105 credits)
•in the first year (i.e. 100 level) of a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) (all majors) or a Bachelor of Food Technology (Hons) (all majors) or a Bachelor of Science (Nutritional Science major) in the year following the award of the scholarship
•at either Auckland or Manawatu campuses

Selection Criteria
Selection will be made on the basis of:
•Academic excellence
•Extracurricular achievement or involvement in science, nutritional science, engineering or food technology activities
•Leadership: Both in and out of school, as evidenced by leadership roles, skills and qualities, development and growth

School leaver applicants studying under NCEA should normally have attained an NCEA Level 2 Certificate at Year 12 and, in the opinion of the school, must be clearly capable of achieving University Entrance.
School leavers with other qualifications (e.g. International Baccalaureate, Cambridge) and non-school leaver applicants must be able to document academic achievements that are comparable to those required of school leaver applicants at University Entrance or similar.

Selection Panel
The scholarship will be awarded by the Head of the School of Food & Advanced Technology, College of Sciences, Massey University, who will constitute a selection panel comprising senior academic staff from the school.

Conditions of the Scholarship
The selection panel may at its discretion refrain from making awards should there be no candidates of sufficient merit.
The scholarship may be held in conjunction with other scholarships, bursaries, or awards, so long as those scholarships, bursaries, or awards permit co-tenure.
