This bursary was established from a donation in 1931 from the New Zealand Dairy Factory Managers’ Association in memory of Mr A. A. Thornton. Mr Thornton was instrumental in improving the quality of dairy factories.
Who we're looking for
We're looking for someone from a dairy farming background who intends to pursue a career within the dairy industry ideally.
What you'll be studying
This is an undergraduate scholarship. You will be enrolled in the second or third year of a Bachelor of Agricultural Science, Bachelor of Animal Science, or a Bachelor of Agribusiness.
Eligibility criteria
You must be:
- studying full-time
- studying in a specific subject area
- enrolled in the second or third year of your degree

- a statement on how receiving this scholarship would be of benefit to you and your study, and how you believe you meet the intentions of this award. You should outline you career goals and interest in or connection to the dairy industry.
- a copy of your Massey University transcripts/current enrolment. You can download your Study History Report from the Student Portal, under ‘Results and Exams’.
Selection considerations
When choosing our recipient, we will consider your academic achievements. We may also consider other scholarships or bursaries you hold. Preference will be given to applicants from a dairy farming background who intend to pursue a career within the dairy industry.
