Renewable energy sources have emerged as an alternative source of energy generation in low power applications, however due to their sporadic nature, the uninterrupted availability of power cannot be guaranteed. Handling and integration of such diversified power sources requires a high degree of efficiency in power extraction, transformation, and utilisation which can only be achieved with the use of a highly efficient and reliable power electronics interface. Mr Rehman designed and developed a multiport power electronics interface for the integration of renewable energy sources. The circuitry was tested to assimilate different renewable sources to power up the load having different voltage levels. His results confirmed that the proposed circuitry provided an excellent response to asymmetrical availability of power from intermittent renewable energy sources and variation in load current. In addition, he proved its suitability for harvesting energy from ambient sources while maintaining high power transfer efficiency and reliability.
