I am an Associate Professor at the School of Aviation. I obtained PhD in Aviation Management at Massey University in 2013, and worked with University of South Australia between 2013 and 2014. I worked in Hong Kong’s aviation industry (major airlines and Hong Kong International Airport) for more than five years.
I have published 31 papers in aviation and air transport, tourism, and economics journals and two (2) book chapters relating to the airport and tourism sectors. Eight of my papers have been published in Tourism Management, Journal of Travel Research, Transportation Research Part A, and Urban Studies (A* grade journal - ABDC list). On of A* papers (Tourism Management) is my solo-authored research. To recognise my research achievement, I was awarded “Massey University College of Business - Early Career Research Award” in 2015. In addition, I received the “Outstanding Paper Award” at the 7th International Conference on Transportation and Space-Time Economics at Beijing Jiaotong University in 2019. I have been the principal investigator for four (4) research projects and have provided advisory services to government and airport. I act the reviewer for 11 international journals.
My research involves development and application of state-of-the-art techniques and methodology to investigate and analyse the contemporary issues related to the air transport industry and the dynamics of air transport policy, as well as tourism. I actively involve PhD and Masters research supervision and looking to grow the cohort of PhD and Masters students to research air transport, tourism and other-related issues.
I have a strong interest in exploring the dynamics of the air transport industry and the tourism sector in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly:
airline and airport demand forecasting
the development of airline and airport networks and global airline strategic alliances
airport productivity and efficiency
the air transport regulatory environments
future tourism activities and trends and its relationship with air transport industry
