Dr Wen Yi PhD

Senior Lecturer in Construction Management

School of Built Environment

Dr Yi obtained her PhD at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and had more than 2 years postdoctoral experience in Hong Kong and Australia prior to joining Massey. Her research covers four areas: (1) construction engineering and management, information technology in construction, optimization in construction management, and construction safety and health. To date, she has published 30 journal articles in top ranked peer-reviewed journals such as Building and Environment, Automation in Construction, ASCE Journal of Management in Engineering, Computer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, ASCE Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering. More importantly, the findings of her research have been adopted in the guidelines and codes of practice for construction industry, which practically facilitates the creation and discovery of knowledge as well as improves work practice. In recognition of her exceptional contributions to construction industry, she has been awarded 10 international and local prizes such as Charted Institute of Building (CIOB) International Innovation and Research Award, Asia Pacific Project Management Achievement Award, and Hong Kong Institute of Project Management Award. Furthermore, she served as a Guest Editor of International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (impact factor: 2.035) for a special issue “Effecting a safe and healthy environment in construction” and reviewers for 10 international journals.

Dr. Wen Yi dedicates to rethinking and proposing innovative solutions to improve the efficiency and sustainability of built environment, to promote environmental friendly and sustainable practices, and to transform engineering education.
