The Palmy Plastic Pollution Challenge (PPPC) draws on citizen science to begin benchmarking all forms of plastic pollution at the level of a City (Palmerston North) and to then partner with the community to develop and implement a strategy to address this issue.

A Massey University, Wellington City Council, Palmerston North City Council and Hawkes Bay Regional Council collaboration. The project explored sustainable agricultural land use at the urban, rural and peri-urban scales.
Massey University campus-based Living Labs provide collaboration opportunities between students, academic staff and operational staff to improve campus sustainability.
A Massey University, Taranaki Regional Council, Intercreate and NIWA collaboration focussed on the Waiwhakaiho River, Taranaki. Researchers and creative professionals worked with stakeholders to collect and interpret social, cultural and environmental content in innovative ways.
