I came to New Zealand for a six month internship at Plant and Food Research after completing a Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, an Honour’s degree in plant molecular physiology, and a Master’s degree in agronomy, environment and landscape in France. I really enjoyed the team I worked with, and my PhD project was launched following the establishment of the New Zealand Life Cycle Management centre at Massey University. Massey is a great place to study, peaceful so you can focus on work and with many facilities to relax and play sports.
For my PhD I am measuring soil carbon stock changes and focused on how to integrate these changes in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), a tool that measure the potential environmental impacts of products across their life cycle (from the farm to the consumer). Soils play a very important role in the sustainability of agricultural systems, and are still very much a frontier of science. LCA is at the crossroads of science, businesses and consumers and I believe could contribute to keep our environment viable for generations to come.
In the future I am considering two options so far. A post-doctorate to lead me to a scientist-lecturer career or a MBA to integrate scientific findings and sustainability into businesses.
