What we do

We offer support to statistical projects to researchers within the university and external clients.

Types of projects we have worked with recently include:

  • planning experiments
  • offering alternative analysis approaches
  • responding to problems in analysis
  • assessing new approaches for analysis

We give direct advice or referral to the most suitable resources for you. No matter what sort of statistical concerns you have, we aim to give you help that delivers a solution.

We also arrange occasional short courses and workshops.

Who can use the service

We give advice to:

  • research students from Massey University
  • Massey University staff
  • private organisations doing research or commercial data collection

Fill out our brief client information form to book an appointment. Once we get your information we will set up an appointment for your first consultation.

We aim to respond to requests within a week – but may take longer during busy periods. Our service may not be available if our staff are busy.

Postgraduate students

For postgraduate students, we ask that supervisors are also present for the initial meeting.

Costs

Fees are in New Zealand dollars.

Massey staff and student rates

  • Consultant: $74
  • Student consultant: $35

External rates

  • Consultant: $130 (excluding GST)
  • Student consultant: $75 (excluding GST)

Senior Lecturer in Statistics, School of Mathematical and Computational Science, Manawatū campus

Dr Jonathan Godfrey has been giving advice to medium-sized research projects for several years. His area of expertise is design of experiments and imputation of missing data.

Postgraduate students also give peer-to-peer support for other postgraduate students across campus.
