Japanese Language Mini-course

The Japanese programme at Massey University’s School of Humanities invites
athletes, coaches and support crews planning to attend the 2020 Tokyo Olympics
and Paralympics to enrol in a Japanese language mini-course.

The mini-course comprises 3 x 45 minute live online sessions taught by an experienced
instructor from Massey’s Japanese programme.  The sessions will take place weekly as below.
A video session will be made available online in June 2020 as a refresher.

Delivery will be via Zoom or Skype and Massey’s online teaching platform Stream.

We are happy to customise the course for groups or as part of a training camp.  We will come to you!  Please contact us for further information about this option.

The Japanese you learn will be simple, practical and useful:

  • Basic greetings
  • Self-introduction
  • Vocab relevant to your sport
  • Japanese phrases for media interviews
  • Dos and don’ts in Japanese culture

No knowledge of Japanese is required.

The mini-course is organised in cooperation with the High Performance Coordinator at Massey University, with the support of the Academy of Sport, Massey University, High Performance Sport New Zealand and the Athlete Life Team.
