Use of calculators

If the examination permits a calculator to be used, the notation ‘CP or CP1 or CP2 etc' will appear beside the exam title. Under no circumstances may you share a calculator with any other candidate. No electronic manager/diary devices with calculator functions are allowed. Calculators must not be in cases. Refer to Examination Rules for more information.

Key to Calculator Restrictions:

CP Calculators permitted - no restrictions on the type of calculator.

CP1 Non-programmable calculators only are permitted.

CP2 Those calculators with alphanumeric keypads and/or alphanumeric memory and/or can store and display text are not permitted, memories must be cleared.

CP3 Calculators or computers with full alphanumeric keypads or screens that can display more than four lines of text are not permitted.

CP4 Restricted Calculator Policy applies. (In this case candidate may bring calculators into an examination room, but only of a type approved by the respective Department. Candidates will have been provided with such details by the Department concerned.)

CP5 Memory of programmable calculators must be cleared.

CP6 Only calculators with non-alphanumeric keypads are permitted

CNP Non-programmable calculators only permitted.

RCP Restricted Calculator Policy applies. (Candidate may bring calculators as identified on the exam paper into an examination room.)
