Frequently asked questions

  1. What will happen if you have already applied for a Bachelor Degree but don't have UE? Like do I need to apply for one of the certificates?
If you have already applied for a bachelor degree at Massey University and you did not gain University Entrance, then Massey University will automatically assess you for the Certificate of University Preparation or the Certificate in Foundation Studies and we will give you an Offer of Place accordingly.  There is no need to submit another application.

  2. If I have just missed out on level 3 NCEA or UE are we able to contact our schools and see if we can do one more internal assessment to obtain University Entrance?
If you have just studied at NCEA Level 3 and you missed out on UE by just one standard, you can go back to your school now and ask if they are prepared to offer you an internal standard to make up what you have missed.

As long as the result for this is logged on the NZQA website and your University Entrance is confirmed by the Friday before lectures start (Friday 23 February 2018), we can still accept you for your degree level study starting in Semester One.

  3. I have already contacted my school and they said they wouldn't be able to offer me
We will also accept relevant study through Te Kura correspondence school.  Massey University have a Memorandum of Understanding with Te Kura to accept results notifications directly from them.  Check out www.tekura.school.nz

Please check the entry requirements for Engineering on our Engineering programme page.  You will need an additional background in math, physics and/or chemistry to be able to do this degree, after completing the Certificate.  We are happy to discuss an individual pathway with you, based on your background in these subject areas.
