124.105 Physics 1B: Electricity, Waves and Modern Physics (15 credits)

This physics course provides foundational knowledge for study in engineering, food technology and physical sciences. The emphasis is on applying physical principles to problems involving electricity, waves (including classical waves and electromagnetic waves), optics, quantum physics, and the application of modern technologies such as lasers, mass spectrometers, and nuclear magnetic resonance.   • Students must have achieved at least 16 credits NCEA level 3 in Physics and 16 level 3 credits in Calculus, or equivalent, or passed courses (124.100 or 124.103) and (160.103 or 160.105), or gained admission to the BE(Hons) or BFoodTech(Hons) programmes.
