Note(s): This course has a restricted number of places available. If you have not been approved for progression to the CBT programme, your admission to this course cannot be guaranteed. Final selection for places will be determined by the School of Psychology in mid January.

Students must successfully complete all assignments and the campus test and achieve an overall mark of at least 50%

Students must have successfully completed and passed the two preceding Postgraduate Diploma in CBT courses 175.761 and 175.762.

  • 1 Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the specific cognitive behaviour models, current empirical support, assessment and clinical management strategies for Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Phobias, Social Anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
  • 2 Diagnose a selection of anxiety Disorders including Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Phobic Disorders, Social Anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (DSM-5).
  • 3 Demonstrate the ability to apply CBT assessment and treatment monitors for the Anxiety Disorders.
  • 4 Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the specific cognitive models of each of the anxiety disorders covered in the course.
  • 5 Demonstrate the application of conceptualisation to clients through early identification of key cognitions and symptoms using the model applicable to each of the anxiety disorders.
  • 6 Demonstrate the ability to use conceptualisation to develop organised treatment plans to enhance short-term effectiveness and efficiency in the treatment of the anxiety disorders.
  • 7 Demonstrate the ability to use panic diaries, exposure exercises, behavioural experiments, coping plans, and other evidence-based cognitive behavioural interventions for the treatment of the anxiety disorders.
  • 8 Demonstrate advanced ability to increase client learning and motivation in the treatment of anxiety disorders.
