198.213 Furniture Design (15 credits)

In this studio course students will develop skills in the design, development and production of furniture in one-off, batch or mass production. By gaining an understanding of the theoretical, historical and practical applications of the discipline, they will produce a project for a specific design context.
Note(s): Elective course that aims to attract students from across the College. The course is comprised of a single furniture design-and-build project, usually focused around a topic or theme. Recent projects have explored the relationship between digital fabrication and traditional furniture design. Students will need to sit the ‘3D Workshop Safety Test’ so they can construct their designs using the equipment in the 3D workshops.
