218.327 Sustainability & Construction Innovation (15 credits)

This course introduces students to the broader concepts of sustainability and innovation applied to the entire building lifecycle. The course examines sustainable development goals, environmental legislation and their implications on building production during pre-construction phase, use/re-use, recycle, waste and innovations to minimise environmental impacts during construction phase, innovations for sustainable maintenance during post-construction phase and also innovations in deconstruction and reclaiming during demolition phase as a means to enable a circular economy.
