Entry requirements

There are no special entry requirements for the strategic communication programme beyond those that qualify you for study at Massey University. However, competence in English is essential. If you are not confident in this subject we recommend that you undertake additional study prior to enrolling, or attend a Massey University summer programme in English.

Bachelor of Business (Strategic Communication) structure

In 2017 changes were made to the Bachelor of Business Studies qualification (now the Bachelor of Business). The course structure presented below therefore applies from 2017 regulations onwards. The BBus majoring in Strategic Communication has a total of 360 credits.

  • Core business courses totalling 120 credits
  • Strategic Communication major totalling 120 credits
  • Elective courses totalling 120 credits

Requirements

To qualify with a Bachelor of Business majoring in strategic communication you will need to pass a total of 360 credits consisting of the following:

Core business courses

Core courses are compulsory. These are courses which cover topics across the business spectrum. They are designed to give you the leadership, communication and solid business skills that you will need in your career. See main Bachelor of Business webpages for information on core courses.

Elective courses

Elective courses can be chosen from any area of study that interests you, as long as it fits with the timetabling for the courses you need to take to complete your Bachelor of Business. For the strategic communication major we encourage you to take elective courses that are outside of the direct business disciplines in subjects such as design and media studies. These have direct application to your studies and will add to your skill base.

English language electives

If English is not your first language and you would like to increase your confidence in academic English we recommend you incorporate one or both of these programmes as electives:

Minor requirements

A minor consists of 60 credits in Strategic Communication; including 219.209, 219.303, 219.305 and 219.310.
