Massey is ranked in the world’s top 150 universities for education in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) ranking.

Everyday life is being fundamentally changed by digital technologies. Education is part of this change, with learning no longer confined to a place or to traditional pathways of learning. In the Master of Education (Digital Education), you will learn to analyse and critique digital education theory and practice, develop your understanding of the complexities of digital learning and teaching, enhance the effectiveness of your digital teaching to improve students' learning within a safe and inclusive learning environment, and conduct your own research in an aspect of digital education that interests you.

Your qualification options

Please note that the Master of Education does not qualify you to be a teacher in New Zealand. If you want to be a teacher, you will also need to take a postgraduate teaching qualification. Please explore your options in our education pathways tool.

A good fit if you:

Master of Education (Digital Education)
Learning content designer - Uber, Mexico City

“An MEd gives you a competitive edge, especially in the global marketplace. It has made a massive impact in my life and career…”

My decision to study the Master of Education (Digital Education) was to help me gain knowledge on adult learning theories, research methodologies and how to apply it with the work I was doing at the Ministry of Social Development. Securing this knowledge helped me become a well-rounded learning professional and gain more confidence in my abilities as an instructional designer.

When I earned my degree I started to be considered for global tech roles. The goal seemed almost unattainable, coming from such a small country like New Zealand but I was the first instructional designer hired at Uber, Mexico City for the Latin American region.

The skills and knowledge the Master of Education (Digital Education) provides will enable you to pursue or advance your career in the diverse and fast-moving field of digital education.
