Doctoral Governance

The Doctorate is the foremost type of degree offered by a University. It is therefore a University level qualification, as opposed to a College, School or Institute level qualification. At Massey the governance of the Doctorate is the responsibility of the Doctoral Research Committee (DRC), which is supported operationally by the Graduate Research School (GRS). The Doctoral  Research Committee, as a subcommittee of the University Research Committee, is a University-wide committee with representatives from across all three campus and academic areas. The DRC promulgates and assures the academic standards applying to all research aspects of doctoral degrees.  It meets monthly throughout the year, except in January, and has an annual planning day to support the development of the University’s strategic direction in doctoral education.
