An examination of corporate social responsibility decoupling in Pakistan: A research journey from tight to loosely coupled institutional environment
I am interested in examining the role of governments in the governance of corporate social responsibility from a new-institutional perspective. One of the important research questions of my study is likely to be, "how, and in what ways do governments contribute to multi-actor governance arrangements in order to embark on corporate social responsibility across different institutional contexts?"
My research is expected to be of significance because the role of governments in business and society has remained largely unexplored. This research intends to develop an institutional perspective on corporate governance which has, to date, been mostly studied through the agency theory lens.
The research will be beneficial to academics; practitioners; and, of course government policy makers.
I am a PhD candidate at Massey Business School and funded by the Higher Education Commission Pakistan. Pursuing a PhD at Massey Business School was one way for me to explore my questions in greater depth and in a context with real-world implications. Massey is a natural fit for me. The School of Management comprised of highly productive faculty doing outstanding work in the field. My goal is to join the faculty of a top-tier business school where I can continue to pursue high-quality, high-impact research among like-minded colleagues.
