Landcare Research Geospatial Integration Portal (Soils Database)
This database allows you to search for soil data nationwide. Choose an area on the map or use NZMG coordinates.
This database has consistent and comprehensive national soil data layers to support applications at local & regional-national scales. There is only limited geographical cover at present. Where coverage is available you are able to access soil type data and link to a PDF comprehensive explanation of the soil type (drainage, soil moisture and depth to hard soil data). There is also a range of scales to choose from so it is possible to get to a very fine level of detail.
New Zealand Stratigraphic Lexicon
A comprehensive computer database of formally named rock units in New Zealand. Includes offshore islands, Kermadecs, Chatham Islands, Subantarctic Islands, but excludes Ross Dependency (Antarctica).
A portal to over 300 biodiversity information resources.
