Moginie Hall

Moginie Hall is one of six halls on Monro Hill. The location provides great views of Palmerston North. On a clear day you can see Mount Taranaki and Mount Ruapehu.

  • Single occupancy rooms, with shared bathrooms (bathroom to resident ratio 1:4), for 68 residents.
  • Suitable for students aged 18 and over.
  • The hall is also for (not limited to) Bachelor of Aviation students.
  • Fully furnished. Residents can bring their own towels and bedding or purchase a bed-pack.
  • Two common rooms.
  • A 10 minute walk to the Concourse and Student Central.

All students can pay by semester or full year. Only domestic students can pay on a weekly basis by direct debit.

  • Residential Assistants support the Halls Management Team to create a fun, safe place to live and achieve academic success.

Fully and partially catered. Meals are served at the Dining Hall on Concourse. Residents can eat there or take meals away. Student ID cards will need to be presented to receive meals. Two kitchens with snack making facilities available.


Wireless internet is available throughout the hall.


Each bedroom has a heater.


Basic furniture is provided. Items that are not provided by the hall will need to be supplied by the residents. Each room comes with a king-single bed.


The Stables laundry has 24-hour access. Washing machines and dryers are available.


Secure car parking is available on campus for $120 per semester. A $20 bond is required for the access card, which is refunded when the card is returned.

Free bike racks are located around the exterior of the hall. Limited spaces are available for rent in a secure bike shed. The cost is $25.00 ($20 bond and $5 maintenance fee).

Bus service

Students can travel for free on the local Palmerston North bus service. Students must present their Massey student ID.

Ruahine computer lab

The Ruahine computer lab is located on the ground floor of Ruahine Flats. This communal space is for all residents of the Moginie community. Facilities available include:

  • Fourteen computers
  • One printer
