Active travel is low cost, energy efficient, and reduces pollution and traffic congestion. And being active is good for your general health and sense of wellbeing.
Many of us don't get the recommended 30 minutes per day of moderate exercise we need to stay healthy. Walking, cycling or using public transport to get to work is a great way to add a bit more exercise into your routine. Doing this even one day a week counts towards better health.
There is a growing body of research to prove that exercise reduces the incidence of obesity, heart disease, diabetes, stroke, osteoporosis, some types of cancer, back pain, stress, depression, and even dementia.
