COVID-19 UPDATE: LEAGUES POSTPONED

Social Sports Leagues (Wellington) will be postponed until after semester break (Monday 20th April).

Updated: Monday 23 March 2020, 12:00pm

Thank you all (both players and referees) for your interest and commitment to our Social Sports Leagues. We have determined that in the current COVID-19 Alert Level 2, that it is no longer safe for us to continuing offering these weekly games. Specifically:

  • Physical distancing: We can’t easily create an experience of 1-2m physical distancing between players in any of the three sports.
  • Hand hygiene: Despite everyone's best efforts, we can't guarantee the balls remain safe from contaminated contact in both netball and volleyball.
  • Team bibs: There are hygiene concerns with swapping bibs between games.
  • Staff availability: Many of our staff are students, and have elected to return home (out of Wellington), while the COVID-19 outbreak is high.

We have decided to postpone the games until after semester break (Monday 20th April). In the week leading up to the events, we will again make a decision to either resume play, or postpone until semester two.

Team refunds

  • If we resume play at 20 April, we will refund teams $50 (of $100) for the three weeks of games we are pausing.
  • If we determine sports leagues wont go ahead this semester:
    • All teams entered in this semester will have first option to play semester two (and transfer their fees across to second semester)
    • Any teams who don’t want to play in second semester, will get a refund of their entry.

Thank you for your understanding, we hope to see you all healthy and well on the courts again soon.
