We recommend all postgraduate and undergraduate students attend semester one orientation. There will be lots of events and workshops at our Auckland campus.

Due to unforeseen circumstances the pōwhiri for new Māori students has been cancelled.

Welcome for Master of Management (MMgt) and Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) in Marketing students

Beginning a new programme in a new environment is challenging. Your postgraduate marketing teaching team want to give you the best possible start on your postgraduate journey with us - whether in MMgt or PGDip.

This afternoon session will introduce each teacher to you, give you an outline of each course in the programme, including two interesting activities that will give you strategies for success in your study. You'll get to know your teachers, fellow classmates and previous students at a pizza party to finish the afternoon.

In this interactive workshop, you will learn how to improve your writing, speaking and study skills for your studies at Massey. Topics include:

  • How I got an A - advice from Massey student on how to get the top grades.
  • How to research New Zealand - advice on how to identify quality data sources on New Zealand for your projects and assignments.
  • How to make Kiwi friends - find out about the events, clubs and voluntary work - these activities are a great way to increase your confidence and make new friends.

Developing your academic language and study skills - part two

In this interactive workshop, you will continue to learn how to improve your writing, speaking and study skills for your studies at Massey. Topics include:

  • How to use resources - advice on summarising and paraphrasing from books and articles without plagiarism.
  • How to write coherently - advice on building arguments rather than relying on ineffective linking works like 'Firstly, ... secondly, ...thirdly.
  • How to edit and proofread your writing - advice on improving the first drafts of your assignments so you can achieve a higher grade.
