We recommend all postgraduate and undergraduate students attend semester one orientation. There will be lots of events and workshops at our Auckland campus.

Monday 17 February


International students registration and welcome

Master of Management (MMgt) programme - part 1

Academic diagnostics for MMgt students in the morning session. Following the assessment, the Teaching and Learning team will deliver an interactive workshop about the cultural differences, time management skills and academic integrity.

Success in a New Zealand university – workshop for international students

Studying in a New Zealand university may be a different experience for you as a new international student even if you have studied at a university in your home country. In this interactive workshop you will learn about the differences you may encounter at Massey and how to manage these and get help.

Orientation for Māori students

Māori students and their whānau are warmly invited to meet the many Māori staff dedicated to supporting you through your studies. This orientation event will include a pōwhiri, whanaungatanga, hāngi, an introduction to student support services and an opportunity to ask questions. This is a vital introduction to everyone who will help you on your Massey journey. Whether you're studying on campus or by distance please come along. Nau mai, haere mai!

Disorientation!

For all Engineering and Food Technology students. Meet fellow engineers during a fun and exciting day learning about the campus, visiting the beach, having a free lunch, and meeting your lecturers! Disorientation is a great way to get a head start on your year as a first year Food Technology or Engineering student.

Powhiri and official welcome

A formal ceremonial welcome to Massey University. This will take place within the seven pou in the Plaza and will represent the journey you are about to undertake at Massey, from the seeds of thought to ultimate achievement. This will be followed by welcome addresses from the Deputy Vice Chancellor and the Albany Students’ Association. Information on pōwhiri protocols

Bachelor of Nursing orientation

Compulsory for Bachelor of Nursing students. The Bachelor of Nursing Head Start day gives students an opportunity to meet the faculty staff and their year one colleagues to find out about the resources and services available. This session will prepare you for courses and clinical placement and is an opportunity to discover more about Nursing at Massey.
