We recommend all postgraduate and undergraduate students attend semester one orientation. There will be lots of events and workshops at our Manawatū campus.

Select a day from the list below to find out about the activities scheduled.

Hall check-in

Check-in to your hall of residence before being guided around your new home. Residential Assistants (RAs) will be your tour guides, and available to answer any questions you may have.

Parent programme

Find out about the support services available to students at Massey. In this session you will learn about some of the issues students can experience at university, and how we help and support them.

You can meet staff from Student Services during the session break. Refreshments included.

Backyard BBQ

Connect with other hall residents over a BBQ dinner and fantastic sounds.

Meet, greet and eat

If you're living in a hall on campus, this is your first official hall gathering for the year. Meet your hall's RAs and other residents over some dessert.

Get active - Body Balance

Get familiar with the Rec Centre by enjoying a free taster with a Body Balance class.

Body Balance is a holistic workout designed to bring your body into a state of harmony and balance. Build strength and flexibility through a series of stretches and poses.

Traditional Māori welcome for students and their families to the campus and city. The mihi brings together hosts (tangata whenua) and visitors (manuhiri) in a welcoming environment of friendship and generosity.

MUSA mega mid-week market

Grab your cheap, cool/crazy outfit for the Opportunity Shop Ball.

Palmy's best Op shops will be on the concourse, along with a bunch of stalls and shops from around Palmy. Expect all kinds of essential student stuff - fresh fruit and veges, UniChem pharmacy, student travel and more!

The Student Services team will also be out in full force – you’ll be amazed at all the support you can access as a Massey student.

A special occasion where you will be welcomed to your programme by the academic staff. It’s a great opportunity to meet fellow students and find out essential programme specific information.

Introduction to the online student environment

The student portal is where you access all the important information for your study. This session will introduce you to the portal and the various functions within it.

Volleyball competition - Halls

Come and thrash the other halls on the volleyball court. We’ll have some awesome prizes to give out to the victors. If you're not a Hall resident, put a team together and enter the competition.

Register your interest with your Residential Assistant (RA), and be sure to head along with your Hall friends for an afternoon of fun.

There's no party like a TOGA PARTY!!

Practically a right of passage for any student, the Toga Party gives you the chance to grab a sheet, get dressed like ancient times and shake it like there's no tomorrow!

The night kicks off with a stellar selection of bass 'n' booty tunes from DJ Dfresh. Fast rising talent Cymbol will be joined by guest vocalist Sally, and to get the party into full swing... it's SAVAGE!
