Hong Kong is an exciting city. There are a lot of great restaurants and thousands of expats from the old British colonial days, so there are plenty of western bars, jazz clubs and people to hang out with outside of the University. It is also a great hub for travelling in Asia. You can get a visa for China while in Hong Kong and visit the Great Wall or Tiananmen Square in Beijing or check out the city nightlife in Shanghai, or even visit Vietnam, Laos or Thailand.
The subway transportation in Hong Kong is superb and easy to get around. There are plenty of English signs, and Hong Kong natives tend to be able to speak English. Most business transactions are still conducted in English.
HKUST is located 20 minutes from the shopping district of Kowloon and has breathtaking ocean views from the campus windows and student housing facilities. This private university is highly regarded internationally for its MBA programme which is currently ranked 44th in the world. All classes are taught in English.
Credit system
A full-time load consists of four to five courses. 15 HKUST credits will transfer back to Massey as 60 credits.
Academic calendar
The HKUST Fall semester spans September to December and the Spring semester begins in February and ends in May.
