Atawhai Flats , Ngā Whare Atawhai

All bedrooms in Atawhai flats are fully-furnished private rooms. Each bedroom has a window that can be opened, and a secure lockable door.

Each room includes:

• a single bed and mattress (two-bedroom flats)
• wardrobe
• drawers
• desk, lamp and chair
• shelves, mirror and rubbish bin
• carpet and curtains
• heater
• basin (in five-bedroom flats).

Items you should bring

Along with clothing and personal items, you should also bring:

• kitchen equipment: a kettle, toaster, plates, cutlery, pots, pans and utensils
• toiletries and toiletry bag
• your own bedding and towels (International students will receive a room pack with bedding, towels and a few utensils which is included in the deposit for international students only).
• coat hangers
• laundry detergent
• 3M hooks/tape or white tac, if you wish to hang anything on your wall (no tape, nails, screws or blu tac allowed).

You may also choose to bring a small fridge, no larger than 45L, which must be put on a waterproof mat.

Bathrooms

The five-bedroom flats at Atawhai each have two showers and a toilet in separate rooms. Each room has a basin and mirror.

The two-bedroom flats have one bathroom with a shower, toilet, mirror and basin.

Atawhai flats are self-catered. Students can store food and prepare their meals in their shared flat kitchens.

There are a range of supermarkets in Palmerston North, on bus routes, for students to purchase food from.

Communal spaces and shared facilities

All single occupancy shared flats have their own kitchen and lounge. The lounges include couches and coffee table.

Kitchens come equipped with a fridge/freezer, stove and oven, sink and microwave. The dining area has a table and chairs.

All flats have a washing machine and laundry tub, and an outdoor deck and grassy outdoor areas which should be kept tidy and empty of debris.

The central common room for all residents has couches, a TV, kitchen, tennis table, toilets and a study area with four computers and a printer. Two dryers are also available at the shared common room with outside clotheslines nearby.

The pricing for Atawhai Flats is as follows.

Room rates include:

• wifi
• laundry facilities
• electricity (residents who use more than a reasonable amount of electricity will be charged extra).

Domestic students will pay a deposit and one initial payment, then 34 weekly payments from March 2023 to November 2023.

International students must pay all deposit and accommodation fees in one payment.

To secure your accommodation, you will need to pay a deposit by the date stated in your letter of offer.

Withdrawals must be received by 23 January 2023 to secure a refund of fees – the processing fee is non-refundable.
