COVID-19 Protection Framework requirements (traffic light system)

All graduation and related events with over 200 people in attendance can only be held if the region is at Green or Orange. All graduands, whānau, friends and staff attending the ceremony and celebrations will need to adhere to the university’s COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.

Please note, this policy may change prior to your ceremony. We will communicate any relevant changes to you before the event.

Earlier this year, we had to postpone the Manawatū Graduation ceremonies due to the Covid-19 restrictions in place at the time, but we did indicate our intention to provide a Graduation Ceremony for you to attend in November 2022.

We are now finalising plans for this promised graduation ceremony.

The November Regent Ceremonies

The ceremonies later in the year will be an opportunity for students to hire and dress in regalia and walk across the stage to celebrate with their whānau and friends. We know celebrating and capturing the moment of graduating is a highlight, which is why we are committed to holding these ceremonies if restrictions allow.

Invites in your student portal are now available, this is how you can formally apply. If you graduated at the Manawatū ceremony in May, and have not heard from us please contact us.

If you have completed as a result of the grades released for semester one 2022 and you would like to graduate at the November ceremony, you should have received a notification to your student portal.

A reminder will also be sent to those receiving student portal notifications by email and text.

Graduation ceremony details

The May ceremony schedule has been incorporated into the November Graduation ceremony and may be subject to change.

If you graduated in May and will attend a ceremony in November, you are a graduate. If you are graduating for the first time in November, you are a graduand.

Academic Regalia

If a regalia order has been placed with Academic Dress Hire, this will be transferred to the November graduation in Manawatu.

Those that are not able to attend the October graduation can have the regalia sent to them for a family celebration or photographs, or a refund can be granted.

Please contact Ainsley at Academic Dress Hire through info@masseygowns.org.nz for either of these options.

If you have not yet ordered regalia and plan to attend the November graduation, please place your regalia order on www.masseygowns.org.nz before 10 October 2022.

Ceremony venue

The Palmerston North graduation ceremonies will be held at the:

Regent on Broadway
53 Broadway Avenue
Palmerston North

Procession

After the ceremony, under the direction of the Marshal, graduates will form a procession and proceed to the Graduation Marquee on The Square. Whānau and friends of graduates are encouraged to take photographs and cheer on the procession.

Graduates, staff, officials and their whānau are invited to the Graduation Marquee for refreshments.

May Manawatū graduation ceremonies postponed

To ensure students officially graduated and because of the uncertainty the pandemic has caused over the past two years, qualifications for the Manawatū graduation ceremony have been conferred by Massey University’s Chancellor on 2 to 4 May.

This means those students that applied to graduate have officially graduated in May and have had their certificates couriered to them. A certified digital version and academic record has also been uploaded via My eQuals.
