- 1 Use best practices to confidently and competently choose which diagnostic techniques are applicable for any clinical presentation for zoo animal and wildlife medicine.
- 2 Use best practices to undertake clinical examinations, collect diagnostic samples, take radiographs, safely administer anaesthesia, perform common surgical procedures, administer treatments and perform necropsies in zoo animals and wildlife.
- 3 Accurately interpret diagnostic and pathologic findings, relate them systematically to the principles of zoo animals and wildlife physiology, pathophysiology, nutrition and husbandry and identify common zoo animals and wildlife diseases.
- 4 Apply systematic knowledge and problem solving strategies to prioritise conditions in individual or collections of zoo animals and captive wildlife and make recommendations for diagnostic, therapeutic and management procedures, including referral if indicated.
- 5 Judge and articulate prognosis with various management options in individual or collections of zoo animals and captive wildlife with common diseases.
- 6 Collate and present clinical information, develop and justify clinical approaches with reference to the scientific literature.
- 7 Effectively incorporate peer feedback and reflection to improve clinical practice.
