Pathways to Earthquake Resilience: The case study of Wellington, New Zealand

The city of Wellington, New Zealand, is exposed to a high degree of earthquake risk. Over the past few decades much effort has gone into understanding this risk and implementing a range of risk management policies and practice. The 2016 Kaikoura earthquake had a significant impact on the city and has highlighted the need to continue this work through a range research, policy and practice initiatives.

A special issue of the Australasian Journal of Disaster and Trauma Studies will bring together accounts of the research, policy and practice initiatives from researchers, practitioners and the wider Wellington community. The resulting special issue will be published online, with open access at no cost to authors or readers.

The timetable for contributions is:

  • 01/06/2018 - Identification of interest deadline (using the form available as a Word doc)
  • 01/12/2018 - Manuscript submission deadline
  • 01/05/2019 - Initial advice to authors
  • 01/08/2019 - Revision deadline
  • 01/03/2020 - Publication of the special issue of the Australasian Journal of Disaster and Trauma Studies
