Delegation from Singapore Institute of Technology welcomed to Manawatū campus

Massey has offered a Bachelor of Food Technology with Honours in partnership with SIT since 2016.

A delegation from the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) visited Massey’s Manawatū campus recently to reconnect in-person for the biannual meeting between the two institutions. It's the first in-person meeting since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Massey, in partnership with the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), has offered a Bachelor of Food Technology with Honours majoring in food product technology at SIT's Dover campus in Singapore since 2016.

The SIT-Massey programme focuses on food product technology, combining food science, food engineering and food business. Students have the option of spending the first semester of their fourth year on campus at Massey in Aotearoa New Zealand, where they complete a research project and elective course. This was unable to occur during the COVID-19 pandemic, but in August this year the first group of SIT students since 2019 will travel to the Manawatū campus for the course.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Massey continued to deliver courses to SIT students via online delivery. In August 2022, academic staff returned to SIT to resume face-to-face delivery. 

The travelling staff supplement the three permanent academic delivery staff Massey employs in Singapore.
