Completing an Application Form

  • There are different forms for different awards. Please make sure you have the correct form. Most forms are available from from the Scholarships and Awards website, Contact Centres, Massey University, Auckland, Palmerston North and Wellington, telephone 0800 MASSEY (0800 627739), email:
  • Please read the regulations carefully to ensure that you are eligible to apply for the particular scholarship or bursary.
  • Complete the form in black pen, ensure you answer all sections correctly and that you have provided all the information requested, ie supporting statement, course proposal, birth certificate, etc.
  • Do not send original documents, certified copies are acceptable.
  • Do not include additional information, ie CV unless specifically requested to do so. It will not assist your application.
  • All pages should be A4 size, single sided, and sent as pdf to (hardcopy is not required) or sent stapled (with one staple only) in the top left hand corner. Do not put your application in a folder.
  • Ensure your completed application arrives at the Scholarships Office, or other address given on the form, on or before the closing date. No undertaking is given to accept late or incomplete applications. An acknowledgement email will be sent to you on receipt of your application - please allow 3-5 working days before following up.

It is the applicant's responsibility to contact their referees and ask them to send their references to the Scholarships Office as pdf if requested to do so on the application form. If the referee's report is to be attached to the application, the referee should enclose it in a sealed envelope.

Remember that the selection committee members may have a large number of applications to read and they will not be impressed with illegible handwriting or poorly presented applications.
