In appreciation of the academic training and research work undertaken at Massey University and the Monogastric Research Centre, the NZ Pork Industry Board offers $1,500 for a scholarship tenable at Massey University to be awarded under the following regulations:
1.The scholarship will be open:
(a)to candidates who are pursuing studies for a Master's degree in Applied Science (paper prefix of 117) or for the degree of Master of Technology or the MSc degree in nutrition at Massey University.
(b)only to candidates who are specialising in the general field of pig husbandry, or are engaged in a project concerned with the processing of pig meat. If there is no suitable applicant under clause 1(a), the Scholarship shall be open to candidates studying full-time for an appropriate postgraduate diploma or honours degree in agriculture, Applied Science or technology. In these cases, the award may be made at full, or part, value.
2.The award will be made by the NZ Pork Industry Board following consideration of the recommendations of the Applied Science Scholarships Committee, and will be based on academic attainment.
3.While scholarship holders will not be bonded, preference will be given to applicants who indicate that they will continue working in the agricultural industry in New Zealand.
4.The award will be paid in May.
5.The NZ Pork Industry Board may, in certain cases, consider making a further grant in a subsequent year.
6.Applications close on the 10 March in the year in which the award is to be made. Application forms (ASSC.3) can be downloaded at the bottom of this page. Completed applications are to be sent to Dr Kerry Harrington, K.Harrington@massey.ac.nz. Alternatively, hard copy applications can be delivered to Dr Kerry Harrington’s office AH 302.
