IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THE APPLICATION PROCESS IS BEGUN WELL IN ADVANCE OF THE CLOSING DATE.
Once you apply, the University and your named referees are contacted to provide relevant information. You must allow both the Scholarships Office and your referees time to complete these actions before the closing date. The University Scholarships Office cannot guarantee an immediate response to these requests.

The scholarships are to be in the field of: Medicine, Veterinary Science, Agriculture, Psychology, Psychiatry or Theology. They are to be awarded to any persons without restrictions of gender, race, nationality, creed or age who, by their occupations, courses of study or experience are qualified to carry out research (at Masters level) in such fields.

The fields of research in which the scholarships will be tenable for the years 2015 - 2019 are as follows:

- 2015 and 2018 Agriculture and Theology
- 2016 and 2019 Psychology and Psychiatry
- 2017 and 2020 Medicine and Veterinary Science

Please note: applications are for the following academic year, therefore applicants need to be mindful of the relevant subject areas for the following year and not the year in which the application is being submitted (i.e. if the application is being submitted in 2014, applicants need to be in the enrolled/enrolling in the 2015 subject areas).


The value of each award shall be $2,000 per annum

Tenure
Each award shall be tenable for one year and that year shall be the thesis year of a Master's degree.

The award shall be tenable by those undertaking full time study at a university in New Zealand.

Candidates must complete an application using the Universities NZ on-line scholarships application website: https://universitiesnz.communityforce.com

The closing date by which applications must be COMPLETE, with references included, and submitted through the on-line website is 1 October.

The on-line application form will request and applicants must provide:
a) a statement outlining the candidate's thesis research.
b) a statment outlining the candidate's extracurricular activities.
c) a statment describing any other particulars that may prove useful to the selection committee.

In the on-line application candidates must nominate as referees two persons who have be requested to testify directly and confidentially to the selection committee. The referees must add their references to the on-line application by the closing date,

A copy of the candidate's academic trancript will be provided by the candidate's university as part of the applicaiton process.
