Guy Fawkes Night.jpg Verifying your documents

When submitting supporting documents with your application, it is important that you provide either the original document or a verified copy of the original. Documents in other languages must be translated into English and then verified in English.

All photocopies of official documents (birth certificates, passports, academic transcripts, graduation certificates) must be verified (also known as certification/notarisation). Verification of photocopied documents is necessary to confirm that the photocopied document is a ‘true copy’ of the original.

Guidelines for verifying a photocopied document:

  1. Photocopy each side of the original document
  2. Take the original and the photocopies to a person authorised to verify documents (e.g. Notary Public, Justice of the Peace, a Solicitor or a Commissioner of Oaths)
    - Academic documents can be verified by an authorised officer of the issuing tertiary institution
    - Massey University’s registered education agents are also authorised to verify documents and submit scanned applications
  3. Ask the verifier to use an official stamp (in English) on each photocopied page to attest that each is a true copy of the original. Each page must be signed and dated
  4. Verified copies must bear the original verification. Do not copy once verified.
  5. Post the verified photocopied documents to Massey's International Relations Office with your application for admission form.

Please note: Faxed documents from any source are not accepted. Scanned documents from any source other than Massey's registered education agents are not accepted.

Massey University education agents and representatives

When applying to study at Massey, you can choose to use the services of one of Massey University's education agents or representatives to support you through the application process.

An education agent is able to provide you with information about Massey's programmes, assist you with selecting the best campus for you, send your application and supporting documents to Massey on your behalf, give you an explanation of the offer letter process, and also assist you with your application for a student visa.

The use of an education agent will not affect the outcome of your application assessment or acceptance to study at Massey. We welcome applications directly from students.
