International students – become a vet at New Zealand's veterinary school

Massey University of New Zealand's Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) is a world leading programme that qualifies you as a veterinarian, able to work all over the world.

If you successfully complete the BVSc you will be qualified in only five years, the fastest pathway to becoming a fully-qualified veterinarian from an AVMA accredited programme. You will gain hands-on animal and veterinary experience.

Massey's veterinary school is ranked fourth in the world by employers and no.25 for veterinary science in the QS rankings. Renowned for an excellent lifestyle, New Zealand is a great place to study abroad.

When can I start and how does it work?

An undergraduate qualification: In New Zealand, professional veterinary training programmes are undergraduate programmes, so you can start your veterinary degree directly after finishing high school.
Starts at the beginning of the year: The programme commences in March (first semester), you will then apply to join the professional phase in July (second semester).
Work around the world: Because we are accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association you will be able to work in New Zealand, UK, Australia, Canada, USA, South Africa, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Why study vet at Massey?

Take less time: The reduced study time of five years means a lower cost to get into the veterinary profession.
Modern facilities: The vet school has modern facilities – see our behind the scenes tour.
Great location: Our veterinary facilities are located on the Palmerston North campus, a safe, student-friendly town in the centre of New Zealand's scenic North Island.
