Wildbase attends the International Penguin Congress 9 (IPC9) Cape Town September 2016

Wildbase was represented by Louise Chilvers at the International Penguin Congress 9 (IPC9) held in Cape Town, South Africa in September 2016.

 

Wildbase was represented by Louise Chilvers at the International Penguin Congress 9 (IPC9) held in Cape Town, South Africa in September 2016. This is the world’s only dedicated penguin conference with over 200 attendees representing 10 countries.Louise presented three posters covering topics from the rehabilitation process undertaken for little blue penguins during the C/V Rena response, the diving behaviour of rehabilitated and non-rehabilitated penguins after the C/V Rena and a study looking at the effects of landslide on nest numbers of erect-crested and rockhopper penguins on New Zealand’s subantarctic, Antipodes Island.  Louise also gave an oral presentation at one of the conference workshops which highlighted post-release monitoring research on penguins from around the world after oil spills.
