Women's Studies analyses the ways gender relations affect society and the daily lives of women and men. It examines gender equity, representation, and autonomy. The development of feminist theory is analysed in its historical and cultural contexts, with particular reference to women in Aotearoa and the Pacific.
While engaging with international debates and literature, Women's Studies also has a strong focus on the place of women in New Zealand society and on feminist debates within Aotearoa/New Zealand.
