“What I really like about my career is that I am making an impact on the community where I live and work…”
In 2011 I graduated from Massey University with a Master of Engineering, majoring in mechatronics with distinction at the age of 22. The mechatronics engineering programme from Massey University provided a sound knowledge of engineering principles and their application but more importantly, it gave me a very solid foundation and the skill set sufficient to start a successful career. Going to Massey University is the best decision I’ve ever made.
Right after my graduation from Massey University I was 100% certain about my career path. In my first role I was a Biometrics Systems Engineer at NEC New Zealand Ltd maintaining the Automated Fingerprinting Identifying System for New Zealand Police. This job required me to troubleshoot outages, configure networking protocols and also to support the system to ensure efficient day to day operations.
Two years into my career I started my new position as a Biometrics Technical Consultant in the same company. Essentially my new role requires me to work with clients in defining specifications and requirements, build customized demonstrations of public safety solutions and applications and deliver technology and business level presentations to technical, operations and management level audiences.
I am still learning new things every day and the company that I work for is always willing to help me and enables me to grow as a professional to be able to go that extra mile. I always have a desire to study and I am still hungry for learning new things every day - even though it’s been a few years since I’ve graduated from Massey University.
