Entry requirements

To enrol in the Certificate in Aviation Studies you need to have an entrance to university qualification, either through Bursaries and Scholarship Examinations, New Zealand University Entrance, NCEA, Admission with Equivalent Status, Discretionary Entrance or Special Admission.

Certificate in Aviation Studies structure

To qualify for the award of the Certificate, a candidate shall pass undergraduate courses to a total of at least 60 credits. The Certificate in Aviation Studies is awarded without Specialisation.

At least 45 credits must be taken from the Schedule for the Bachelor of Aviation Management degree and / or other aviation courses as approved by the School of Aviation. Up to 15 credits may be taken from Schedules for other undergraduate degrees.

A candidate who has completed the requirements for the Certificate in Aviation Studies may apply to transfer the Certificate courses towards an undergraduate diploma or degree of the University, provided that any such courses shall comply with the Regulations for the diploma or degree in question.

A candidate who has been awarded a Certificate in Aviation Studies may apply to cross-credit up to 15 credits of Certificate courses towards an undergraduate degree of the University, provided that such courses shall comply with the Regulations for that degree. A candidate who wishes to credit courses totalling more than 15 credits in terms of this Regulation will be required to surrender the Certificate in Aviation Studies before transfer of credit will be granted.

These regulations should be read in conjunction with all other Statutes and Regulations of the University including the General Regulations for Undergraduate Degrees, Undergraduate Diplomas, Undergraduate Certificates, Graduate Diplomas and Graduate Certificates

How much will it cost?

We can't tell you the exact cost until you have chosen your courses, as the tuition fees you pay each year vary depending on the courses you choose. There will also be compulsory non-tuition fees you have to pay in addition to your tuition fees. For some courses there may be other charges for things such as study resources, software, trips and contact workshops.
