Student life at Massey University

Each year, about 30,000 students from over 80 countries choose Massey University to help them realise their ambitions and achieve their true potential.  Our students move on to successful futures and careers in New Zealand and internationally.  Massey provides an extensive range of student-centred facilities and services on all campuses and ensures an active, enriching campus life beyond the academic experience.

About our campuses 
Massey University offers students the choice of four campuses each with its own unique characteristics and specialist courses.  They are Albany (in Auckland), Manawatu (in Palmerston North), Wellington and distance.

Starting university 
If you're new to university it can be quite overwhelming, but don't worry we're here to help and have a range of services and information available that will help you prepare and settle in. 
How distance learning works
Services and resources
Massey offers a comprehensive set of students services no matter what campus you are studying on, or if you are studying at a distance.  Services include Health and Counselling, academic study support, support for international students, chaplaincy and religious services and many more. Take the time to explore what is available to you.

Recreation and sports
Each campus has a recreation centre with gym and sports facilities.  In addition there are several facilities utilised by the community including the North Harbour Cricket Centre in Albany, the Manawatu Athletic Track, Manawatu Equestrian Centre and the Sport and Rugby Institute.  Read on to find out more:

Student Associations 
Massey student associations aim to make student life as exciting as possible. Massey has seven student associations. They provide a range of services to students and advocate on behalf of students to the university and wider community. They work to make sure students' academic and welfare concerns are recognised and properly dealt with.
Managing my study
Student Exchange Programme 
With the Massey University Student Exchange Programme, you can gain international experience while you complete a degree. Massey has exchange agreements with more than 30 universities around the world. Some of those, like California State University, have multiple campuses, offering even more choices.

Graduation 
Graduation is a celebration of achievement after years of study and dedication. Graduation ceremonies are proud and happy occasions for family and friends. Massey offers a number of graduation options: in person; in Council; at a Maori ceremony; at a Pasifika ceremony; or in absentia.

Sport at Massey
The University's sport and recreation facilities and programmes are available on the three campuses - Albany, Manawatu, and Wellington. These include the Sports Scholarship Programme and sports science laboratories. Facilities are available to students, staff and local communities to meet a range of recreational and sporting needs.
