Welcome to the creative campus in the heart of Wellington. Over the past few years the campus has established itself as a centre of excellence for study and research.

Study and research programmes

Our study and research programmes focus on four broad areas:

  • Communication and Business;
  • Health and Well-being; and
  • Creative Arts.

The Wellington campus is home to New Zealand's oldest and most distinguished School of Design, established in 1886.

Research centres

Massey University Wellington hosts a number of world-class research centres including

  • Centre for Public Health Research
  • Sleep/ Wake Research Centre
  • Māori Health Research Centre
  • New Zealand Centre for Small and Medium Enterprise Research
  • Centre for Disaster Research (with GNS Science), and
  • National Centre for Tertiary Teaching Excellence.

New Zealand School of Music

Massey University and Victoria University of Wellington have collaborated to create the New Zealand School of Music (NZSM), the pre-eminent provider of music education programmes in New Zealand. Until the NZSM is re-located on its own site, Wellington NZSM students will be located on either the Mt Cook campus (Massey Wellington) , Albany campus (Massey Albany) or Kelburn campus (Victoria University campus), depending on programme of study.
