Graduation at Massey University

Apply now to graduate

For information about how to apply see apply to graduate.

Applications close:

Auckland April Ceremonies

  • 1 February

Palmerston North and Wellington May Cerermonies

  • 1 March

Palmerston North November Ceremonies

  • 1 September

If you are eligible to graduate as a result of the previous semester's examinations you must apply to graduate. It is your responsibility to make sure you complete your application before the closing dates as late applications will not be accepted.

If you are waiting for results from Summer School (Semester 3), or if you are a postgraduate student who has submitted a thesis, you may not receive your results before the closing date for applications. You still need to apply before the closing date even if your results have not arrived.

Graduation is a celebration of achievement

Graduation marks the end of a long period of extensive learning and is a celebration of your dedication, achievement and effort at one of New Zealand's leading universities.

You can choose to graduate:

  • In person - have your scroll presented to you in person at a graduation ceremony.

Or

  • In absentia - graduate through an Academic Board Meeting / Council Meeting without attending. Your scroll will be sent to you. Please note that if you graduate by this method you will not be able to attend a ceremony for the qualification at a later date.

Māori and Pasifika graduates:

  • Graduates who have chosen to graduate through the April or May ceremonies and are of Māori descent have the option to celebrate their graduation at the Ceremony to Honour Māori Graduates in addition to attending/graduating at the main graduation ceremony. If you only wish to attend the Ceremony to Honour Māori Graduates you will graduate in absentia, through the main ceremony and your scroll will be given to you at the Ceremony to Honour Māori Graduates.
  • Graduates who have chosen to graduate through the April or May ceremonies and are of Pasifika descent have the option to celebrate their graduation at the Ceremony to Honour Pasifika Graduates in addition to attending/graduating at the main graduation ceremony. If you only wish to attend the Ceremony to Honour Pasifika Graduates you will graduate in absentia, through the main ceremony and your scroll will be given to you at the Ceremony to Honour Pasifika Graduates.
