Student accommodation is provided at all three Massey campuses. To secure a place, you need to apply online.
Read through these steps carefully before you start your application, and submit your application as soon as possible when applications open, in order to have the best chance of securing a place.
Application dates
Applications open on:
- 1 August for full year and semester one (of the following year)
- 1 April for semester two (of the current year).
You will find out the result of your application, and whether you have a place in accommodation, from:
- 1 October for full year and semester one (of the following year)
- 1 May for semester two (of the current year).
Make sure you apply early when applications open. Applications received later on will be considered if rooms are still available.

Prepare your application
Register with the Accommodation Portal
You need to register with the online Accommodation Portal before you can apply.
When completing the registration, make sure the email address you enter is your personal email. Your email address will be your login username and the address we use to communicate with you throughout the application process.
In the Accommodation Portal you can:
- save an application part way through and come back to it later
- check the status of your submitted application
- read the terms of your residential agreement
- review and accept your Offer of Place.

What you will be asked
In the application, you’ll be asked to provide information on your health, wellbeing, disability, and dietary concerns. We use this information to plan any support that you may require, in discussion with you.
We also ask you about your interests, hobbies and living preferences so we can allocate the most suitable accommodation for you.
References
First-time students who are New Zealand citizens or residents should provide a reference. International and returning residents do not need to provide a reference.
School leavers should ask their school to complete the online Common Confidential Reference Form (CCRF).

Apply for Massey accommodation
1, Submit your application online
- Log into the Accommodation Portal
- Select the campus you will be studying at from the top menu
- Work through the multi-stage process.
You will be asked to rank your preferred accommodation options – we will try our best to accommodate your first preference.
2, Accept your Offer of Place
If successful, you'll receive an email with your Offer of Place. Offers are sent out weekly from:
- 1 October (semester one and full year)
- 1 May (semester two).
If unsuccessful, we will email you and let you know.
If all our rooms are currently allocated, you may be placed on a waitlist. Should a room become available, we will then send you an offer of place. Follow the steps outlined in the email by the offer expiry date stated to secure your place.
You're signing a legally binding fixed-term contract when you accept your Offer of Place. Before you accept it, make sure you:
- read and understand the Residential Agreement and Community Standards
- read the accommodation handbook
- can afford your accommodation fees.
3, Complete the Residential Agreement and pay deposit
For the final step in securing your accommodation, make sure you:
- complete the Residential Agreement
- pay the deposit on time.
Arrival information will be sent approximately 6 weeks before arrival day.
