Massey Business School learning is very focused on giving our students experience that will help them in their future careers. So we offer two internships\ courses (115.388 Internship in Business and 219.311 Communication Internship). We link you, the student, with an organisation where you will get the opportunity to gain work experience while you are studying. It's a great way of seeing how you can apply your studies and gaining contacts who will help you in your career.
Internships are offered as part of the Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Accountancy, Bachelor of Communication, Bachelor of Retail and Business Management and the Bachelor of AgriCommerce (including conjoint students), usually in your final year. You must have gained at least a B- average across the study in your degree, or be able to demonstrate that you are able to operate at that level.
An internship usually involves you spending a day each week at your host organisation. Internships can be for a full academic year or one semester. Once you are introduced to the business and you and the business are both happy with the placement, you will negotiate your tasks or project with your host. Your academic grade will be based on an assessment of your role in the organisation and/or your academic work around your placement.
Internships are offered each year on the Albany, Manawatu and Wellington campuses.

Inspiring Stories Trust intern
Interning at Inspiring Stories Trust is an incredible experience and opportunity for me as a communication student. To have such a fantastic cause to communicate engages my passion and drives me to learn so much more. It's also a great taste of the small-team, start-up environment where rules are less and creativity is more.
Diabetes NZ intern
I have really enjoyed interning at Diabetes NZ because it has given me a taste of what a communications career looks like. Finally, I get to put my theory into practice! They've got me looking after the social media sites, contributing to their magazine and the monthly newsletter. I’ve learned how diverse a communications role really is.
