Successful construction and built environment projects require technical knowledge, management skills, problem solving abilities and innovation.

Massey University delivers courses that equip construction students with these attributes. Our construction graduates have advanced computer skills for the resolution of complex problems and resources optimisation. They are skilled in working in multidisciplinary teams.

Graduates in the Bachelor of Construction find exciting careers in the disciplines of construction management, quantity surveying and facilities management.

Graduates of the Graduate Certificate in Lighting have careers in the lighting industry. 

Internationally recognised programmes

The B Const (Quantity Surveying) is accredited by the Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS).

The Bachelor of Construction (Quantity Surveying and Construction Management majors) have been accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Postgraduate programmes

Degrees are offered at all levels of study – graduate diploma, postgraduate diploma, masters and PhD.

Recent research topics have included studies on:

  • energy efficiency in buildings
  • future directions of the quantity surveying practice
  • adjudication of construction disputes
  • building maintenance and healthiness of the home
  • benchmarking of energy consumption
  • performance of LED lamps.
