“I am excited and optimistic about the long and fulfilling career that I will have in the communications world, having been sculpted into the confident individual that I am today from this leading tertiary institute....”

Before attending Massey I completed my freshman year at Loyola Marymount University in America.  When I came home the obvious choice for me was Massey for a number of reasons.  First of all both of my sisters had attended their studies here and secondly Massey offered me so many perks that weren’t attainable from any other university.  I am able to live at home and drive a short 15 minutes to classes, where I have access to an abundance of free parking.  The campus is beautiful and the environment is very welcoming.  At Massey University you are not just a student ID number, but considered as an individual, resulting in many great relationships being formed with lecturers and tutors.

My initial impressions when I first enrolled at Massey were great.  I distinctly remember my first tour and even formed a friendship with the guide of who I am a friend with to this day. One of the things that really struck me about the campus was the logical lay out of the very modern buildings and of course, the library.  I knew the library would play a big part in my life during my tertiary study years so I was wrapped with the size of it, the abundance of great computers, the café and the various and modern study areas.

It wasn’t until having completed my 100 level Marketing paper that I realized that Marketing and Communications were my calling.  I had an excellent lecturer who was clear, insightful and easily contactable for individual consultation.  This lecturer drew really effective comparisons between theory and real world application.  As I moved further through my Marketing degree at Massey I realized that this was a trait shared by all of my lecturers. They have a real knack for getting a class involved and interested.  There has been a lot of group work, and every assignment that I have had to complete can be likened to real world marketing assignments.

I believe that I will be fully prepared to handle any task thrown at me in the corporate world as I have been educated by many of the leading marketers in the industry.  I am excited and optimistic about the long and fulfilling career that I will have in the communications world, having been sculpted into the confident individual that I am today from this leading tertiary institute.  The CJM department has given me the confidence in my ability to tackle the challenges that lie ahead.

I would highly recommend Massey University for tertiary studies to any prospective student deciding on their future studies.  It is located in an incredibly accessible location with the Albany mall located near by.  At this university you will be treated as an individual with an endless network of lecturers, tutors and Communications, Journalism and Marketing staff.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Massey University and am excited to promote it any way that I can.
