Certificate of University Preparation - Graduated PaCE 2013
Bachelor of Veterinary Science Student - Massey University (Current)

“Studying with PaCE not only allowed me to gain more knowledge in sciences, but also helped prepare me for tertiary study by teaching me valuable tools such as referencing and academic research…”

I have always been surrounded by animals and am passionate about horses. When I left Cashmere High School in Christchurch at 16 to work with horses, I had only completed NCEA level 2 so didn’t meet the entry requirements for tertiary study.

Even though I was over 20 when I decided to go to university and so didn’t need University Entrance, I enrolled in a semester-long bridging programme with Massey’s Centre for Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) to give me the extra credit and advantage in sciences that I needed to get into the highly competitive pre-vet programme. I didn’t have a strong science background so wanted to complete the Certificate of University Preparation which had more advanced science courses.

Studying with PaCE not only allowed me to gain more knowledge in sciences, but also helped prepare me for tertiary study by teaching me valuable tools such as referencing and academic research and allowing me to become familiar with the Manawatu campus and the services available to students.

I am in my third year of a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and enjoy the ongoing challenges and developing fields arising in veterinary medicine. Once I graduate in 2018 I would like to work in equine medicine, and hopefully this will lead to an international internship and a promising career wherever I choose to practice.
