Entry requirements

To enrol in the Diploma in Business Studies you need to have an entrance to university qualification, either through Bursaries and Scholarship Examinations, New Zealand University Entrance, NCEA, Admission with Equivalent Status, Discretionary Entrance or Special Admission.

Diploma in Business Studies structure

To gain the diploma you must pass courses to a total of at least 120 credits, with at least 45 credits above 100-level.

At least 90 credits must be taken from the Schedule for the Diploma in Business Studies. Up to 30 credits may be taken from Schedules for other undergraduate degrees.

From 2017 the Diploma in Business Studies is awarded without an endorsement.

Transition

Transition Rules for those students who have commenced the Diploma prior to 2017

  • Candidates who enrolled in the Diploma in Business Studies prior to 2017, and who have completed 15 credits at 200 level towards an endorsement, may complete under the Diploma in Business Studies regulations as they appear in the 2016 University calendar
  • Candidates who enrolled in the Diploma in Business Studies prior to 2017, and who have not completed 15 credits at 200 level towards an endorsement, must complete the qualification in accordance with these regulations.
  • These transition arrangements expire at the end of 2018.

Candidate who has completed the requirements for the Diploma in Business Studies may apply to transfer the Diploma courses towards an undergraduate degree of the University, provided that any such courses shall comply with the Regulations for the degree in question.

A candidate who has been awarded a Diploma in Business Studies may apply to cross-credit up to 45 credits of Diploma courses (which shall normally be at 100-level) towards an undergraduate degree of the University, provided that any such courses shall comply with the Regulations for that degree. A candidate who wishes to credit courses totalling more than 45 credits in terms of this Regulations will be required to surrender the Diploma in Business Studies before transfer of credit will be granted.

These regulations should be read in conjunction with all other Statutes and Regulations of the University including the General Regulations for Undergraduate Degrees, Undergraduate Diplomas, Undergraduate Certificates, Graduate Diplomas and Graduate Certificates


How much will it cost?

There will also be compulsory non-tuition fees you have to pay in addition to your tuition fees. For some courses there may be other charges for things such as study resources, software, trips and contact workshops.
