Mr Kereszturi investigated the numerical characterization of small-volume monogenetic volcanoes in the Auckland Volcanic Field, New Zealand, using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing. He performed digital terrain analysis based on a high-resolution Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) dataset, field mapping of the preserved volcanic deposits, and numerical simulations of lava flows. In addition, he developed conceptual models for forecasting volcanic hazard via susceptibility mapping based on the past behaviour of the volcanism. His results contribute to a better understanding of the spatial and temporal behaviour of the monogenetic volcanism and its likely hazards in the potentially active Auckland Volcanic Field.
